In Russian a ship is not necessarily "she", its gender is defined by its name and, usually, it`s a male name, but not always though.
There is a beautiful song by Vladimir Vysotsky about two ships where "Madonna" was desperately in love with "Lord", who hasn`t got a clue.

They said there is no such thing as bad weather, there are just wrong clothes. Although, someone does not bother with clothes at all, and prefers walking in the rain bareheaded and, if it`s possible, barefoot.

Winter Lanterns

I'm always amazed finding out how some, obvious for one, things may have absolutely different associations for people from another part of the world, speaking another language.

For example, bullfinches. In Russia this bird's called [snegir'], where [sneg] means snow. Meanwhile, in China, it's not a finch but a sparrow, ash-sparrow (灰雀) in fact.

Sunbeam

The sweet spring sun was rather hot. Fox Cub still dreaming was not fully awake, stretched his hind leg to scratch the ear then stopped and became absolutely still for the Sunbeam landed right on his nose.
