This is Iris laevigata, know as rabbit-ear iris or shallow-flowered iris.
In Japan, there’s a famous tanka by Ariwara no Narihira. Take a look at the first syllables. Moreover, poetry, especially Asian poetry, is always about wordplay and layers of meanings, so it won`t be so poetic if you translate it literally.
